Leading the Way to a Successful Business - Renee Ballinger

19 November 2020

Actions speak louder than words. We have all heard the saying, but nothing is more critical for business leaders in today’s ever-changing business environment, especially with technology and cultural considerations coming into play.

Top qualities for successful leaders include being inspiring, adaptable, innovative, motivating, honest, loyal and empowering, as well as having exceptional communication skills and decision-making capabilities.

It is important to remember that being a leader is not a position or a title, it is the traits or set of qualities that employees at every level of an organisation can exhibit, which can lead to the business reaching goals well above expectations.

At the recent Best in Business Awards UHY Haines Norton Gladstone were honoured to receive the award for Stand out Business Over the Past 10 Years, while I was awarded Young Business Leader of the Year. I believe that these awards are recognition of building meaningful and long-lasting relationships with our clients, working with them closely to grow and improve their businesses and most importantly, achieve their goals.

In a recent ‘Study of Australian Leadership’ report by the University of Melbourne, it was discovered that while 97% of Australian workplace managers believe they are meeting or exceeding their target for customer satisfaction, only 66% are meeting their sales target and even fewer are achieving profit targets.

This indicates that although business leaders are effective in some areas of business management, they often require assistance with the financial aspect, especially around strategy - including goal setting and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) monitoring.

Ensuring your business and employees have clear business goals and measurable metrics can mean the difference between success and failure of the business. It also allows you to take a step back and see what you have achieved and how far you have come.

Here at UHY Haines Norton Gladstone we pride ourselves on assisting our clients with actionable business improvement strategies, goal setting and KPI monitoring. Should you require any assistance please contact our professional team of accountants and business advisers on 4972 1300.
